Hello everyone!
My name is Jelena and I come from Serbia.
I’ve been an English teacher for 8 eight years, working both in the classroom and online.
I have the experience of teaching conversational and general courses (A 1- C 1) to Serbian students in language schools. I also had the opportunity to work in international environments like the Libyan embassy in Belgrade, where my students were employees in the Libyan Embassy, MA, PhD students of different levels. I have also given lessons to Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese students online.
I graduated from the Department of English language and literature in Belgrade. I hold both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in English. I also have a 120 hour TESOL certificate.
In my 8 years of working experience, I have focused on the English language as well as people. My success depended on an understanding of their needs, way of communication, motivation, learning habits, and specifics of their age, culture, and knowledge.
My approach to teaching is communicative, which means that lessons are always interactive and conversational. The communicative approach combines grammar and communication, so from the very first lesson, you start speaking English. I love asking questions that you can relate to, so you always find the conversation engaging, challenging as well as entertaining.
I also make sure to guide students through the learning process and provide lots of feedback that helps you improve your knowledge and language skills. I think it’s very important to create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere so that you do not feel afraid to ask questions or make mistakes.
I know Spanish, a little bit of German and Russian, as well.
