Hello! My name is Pamela, and I’m from Chicago in the U.S., but I am currently in Oman.
I have been teaching EFL for 15 years in China, Turkey, Mexico, and the Middle East. My teaching experience includes students from teens to working professionals to retired adults, and I have taught General, Academic, Business, and Medical English, as well as IELTS and TOEFL.
During this time, I have traveled widely and encountered many languages and ways of speaking English. Having studied foreign languages in both the U.S. and abroad, face-to-face and online, I realized how important it is to adapt learning styles to student goals, needs, time, and abilities. Therefore, my teaching philosophy focuses on the student; we will do what’s best for your learning.
My career background is diverse because I have worked in both English Education and Accounting/Finance. I am certified in TEFL education; my MA degree is in English Language and Literature from Harvard University Extension; and my undergraduate degree is Accounting. I worked in corporate finance/accounting in Chicago for approximately 10 years before pursuing an MA and changing careers to English Education. I have loved every minute of it because now I work with many fascinating people and help improve their communication skills. Additionally, online platforms allow me to teach English in all the subjects that I enjoy and in which I have real-life experience: Business, Speaking, Writing, Professional Communication, and Exam Prep.
